As I read through the first few chapters I was about ready to chalk it up to a bad choice. Glad I stuck with it.Moving on, it got exciting and I was hooked. I never saw it coming, I won't spoil it here for you.If you have read Chris Glatte's books about the Army's 124th Regiment in the Pacific during WWII, you will very much enjoy "Across the Channel."
I enjoyed reading this story, the characters are interesting and the story line compels you to keep reading. The story could of happened.
A very nice writing style and good character development. I have enjoyed all of his books. Looking forward to his next one.
Man this book is just plain good really moves along
High school level storyline, maybe vintage '50's movie potential.
I am Not a youth or young adult (70 yrs old last June) but I had to read the book because Chris wrote it, my 5th. Well done story telling of a different era and level of maturity therein. Could we even imagine 15 year old boys crossing the Channel, Much less engaging in close combat. Don't be put off by the theme it is far less violent than most video games our young'uns are involved with.
This novel is outstanding. The dislike of the SS, German Soldiers, the sorrow of the French and the excitement of the boys make for a great story. Extremely well written and riveting. Good job Chris Glatte.
Historically correct with startling, vivid action. All spoiled by typos and embarrassingly amateur mistakes such as using the term 'ground' when it should have been 'floor' and mademoiselle instead of madame.
