Short on sales but not on performance, Dodge marketers wanted to initiate a program that would ignite brand awareness while maintaining the performance edge they had on the streets. With "Dodge Fever" in full swing, the Scat Pack was born.Two years later, Plymouth's Rapid Transit System followed Dodge's Scat Pack. Both programs relied heavily on grouping their performance-oriented cars with messages aimed at the under-35 audience. Chrysler incentivized owners to join its "clubs" by offering free merchandise. Plymouth took its show on the road with the Rapid Transit System Caravan featuring prototypes that could be seen at dealerships. Good memories of the cars and how the companies like Chrysler really seemed to want you to own their products and how they went out of their way to make you a walking and driving billboard for the company. I wish we could see more of them today. I have some of the original ads hanging on the wall. The only part of the book I would change is the registered trademark statement that is at the end of almost every photo caption. It might save about a pint of ink per book.
Neat and different. Never really seen many books that look at marketing and such with this much depth. Really cool spin on muscle car history!
For the most part was an interesting read, but as I lived through it, there should have been much larger photos of some things and sometimes just the outside of something was shown, instead of all the pages. Just didn't meet my expectations.
Another great book by the author on Mopar history. Lots of great ads from the musclecar era with well researched and written text.
The way it is written really relives my past childhood.
Bought this for my 20-year old son, he's crazy about it. [Before giving it to him, I did black out the immodest pics of the women.]

They are beautiful on the shelves, they are enjoyable to read, they make beautiful coffee table books.Jim Schild is the author of this monster of a book. What looks more like a Manual or one of those Literally Quartarely's as they come in high quality magazine style...this is up there. French flaps and all. The pictures are so vibrant...absolutely amazing. The content..the writing style..excellent, informative, easy to understand. These books are easily making me a car aficionado. I love being able to school the man in my life with car tidbits that he knows nothing about. Speaking of the man in my life..he like all the other CarTech books is my second reviewer...and he is not disappointed with this book. He loved it.The Author Jim Schild has written 24 car books...knows his stuff..and of course has been a builder and driver of the cars he speaks on. That's enough for me to trust all the content in this book has been well researched and written for us to understand and enjoy.I highly recommend.
